Vyasji too renounced his body outside Kashi

An acclaimed scholar of Vedas and Shastras, Vyas, also tried to persuade Kabir to stay back in Kashi. Kabir said to Vyas that if Vyas really had the knowledge of Shastras, then he too should opt to die outside Kashi. “Those who are enlightened don’t let this superstition germinate within them. If you truly are a scholar who has achieved self-realisation then you too should breathe your last near Magahar. I believe that an enlightened being never dies, for he is eternal, irrespective of the place he discards his body in.”

Vyas understood the truth in Kabir’s words and after abandoning Kashi, he started living in a hut across Rajghaat. He too breathed his last outside Kashi. Away from the Kashi Rajghat, there is a Vyasnagar and the city houses Vyas ji’s tomb.

True devotees of Lord Ram consider distinguishing between Magahar and Kashi as their Lord’s insult. The enlightened ones are not bound by any law of death. The Lord frees them from this vicious circle of life and death, irrespective of the place they die in.

This rule of life and death applies only to the ignorant and is irrelevant for the devotees of Lord Ram. If the Lord resides in my heart then salvation can be attained anywhere. For the enlightened Kashi and Magahar enjoy the same platform.

For the enlightened one, there is no difference between Kashi and Magahar. With the light of this knowledge in his heart, Kabir left for Magahar. By going there he proved that his salvation lay in his own hands. “Whenever I want, wherever I want, salvation awaits me with open arms”
